CHAPTER UPDATES:
Wednesday February 20: Safety Seminar 7PM. Our Safety seminars are held at the Sheriff's hangar. At this session we'll have a representative from ACR with us to talk about Personal Locator Beacons and survival gear. We also plan to continue our discussions of ditching.
Saturday March 1st: Our Monthly meeting and cookout will be combined with a Young Eagles Flight event. The Young Eagles activities will start at 10AM. We will try to squeeze in a meeting and a cookout is planned.
Saturday March 5: Chapter meeting and cookout. Meeting starts at 11:30.
As always, coffee and donuts are available from 0900-1100 practically every weekday at our hangar on the SW end of the runway.

Aviation Day at Marathon Airport
The Experimental aircraft association chapter 1241 in Marathon Florida sponsored Aviation day on November 3, 2007 and it was a great success.
Members of the public of all ages came to the passenger terminal in Marathon to see vintage Warbird aircraft, home built aircraft, new airplanes, and aircraft in government service. It was quite a show.
People streamed in from 10 AM to 4 PM and they were greeted by members of the local EAA chapter. Over 500 people from the surrounding communities attended along with unknown numbers of pilots who flew in their own airplanes for the event.
The flight line was spectacular. A Dyke Delta, built by one of our members, shared the stage with Pitts specials, New Diamonds and Cessnas, Light sport aircraft, and fascinating displays like the Life Flight helicopter.
Various groups made presentations to the audiences including our own Dave Williams, the builder of the Dyke Delta.
One star of the show was a P-51 Mustang fighter brought to us by Todd Stewart of Key West. The whole world stops when a P-51 makes a low altitude high speed pass. Fred Cabanas graced us with his Pitts Special S-2C. (See this link)
US Made light sport aircraft stood close to Chinese made war birds. The flight line was packed with a variety of aircraft for the public to examine. Aviation Day 2007 was a great success.

Our organization sponsors safety seminars and has an active youth orientation program known as Young Eagles. We are involved in community events and provide support for the aviation-related activities of our members.
